26th to 30th of April

Tomorrow, the Atlantic 10 Conference Tennis Championships 2017 will begin at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida! Even though called A-10, the conference has 14 member universities, which compete in the NCAA Division I and are mostly based in the Midwestern and Eastern United States.

In the women’s tournament, all 14 member schools will be featured: Davidson College, University of Dayton, Duquesne University, Fordham University, George Mason University, George Washington University, La Salle University, University of Massachusetts, University of Rhode Island, University of Richmond, St. Bonaventure University, Saint Joseph’s University, Saint Louis University and Virginia Commonwealth University. For the fifth year in a row, the VCU Rams have been chosen as the top seed and have also won the last four championships. Fist-round play begins on Wednesday, April 26th at 9:00 am EDT.

In the men’s tournament, only 12 teams will compete for the conference title, since the University of Rhode Island and the University of Massachusetts have no men’s tennis program. The defending champion, George Washington University, wants to claim its sixth championship in seven years. The Colonials have won the last three conference tournament titles. Men’s first round will start on Thursday, April 27th at 9:00 am EDT.

Winning the title in one of the best conferences in the country is not only a matter of prestige but the winning men’s and women’s teams also receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships in March! Follow the action, as Tennis-Ticker will provide live scores, match statistics and downloadable score cards for every match on every court through the Women’s Championship Interface and the Men’s Championship Interface!
