Torneo Avvenire 2017 starts tomorrow!

10th to 17th of June

Tomorrow, the Torneo Avvenire will take place for the 53th time in Milan, Italy. Between June 10 and June 17, this Tennis Europe Category 1 event features some of the best players under the age of 16. In its long history, the tournament proved to be huge steeping stone to a carrer as a later tennis professionel, as some of the best former and current tennis players on the pro tour started here. Among many others the Torneo Avvenire lists Björn Borg (1971), Ivan Lendl (1976) Goran Ivanišević (1987), Jennifer Capriati (1988), Martina Hingis (1992), Janko Tipsarević (1999), Maria Sharapova (2000), Gaël Monfils (2002), Juan Martin Del Potro (2003) or the current French Open winner Jeļena Ostapenko (2011) as former champions or finalists. Qualification play will be from June 10 to June 12. Therefore, Main Draws will start on Monday, June 13 and will finish with the Finals on Saturday, June 17. Qualifying for the Roland Garros Junior French Championships 2017

While the pros are already on the courts in Paris, the juniors still have to wait until Thursday, as the Qualifying for the Roland Garros Junior French Championships 2017 will start on June 1! For the promising youngsters, the second Junior Grand Slam of the year is not only important to earn ITF Junior World Ranking points but also to earn the attention of the live audience and spectators from all across the globe by playing exciting and successful tennis. Many who excited the masses and triumphed on the red clay at a young age became professionals and even tennis legends afterwards. John McEnroe, Justie Henin, Ivan Lendl, Amelie Mauresmo, Henri Leconte, Martina Hingis or Mats Wilander – all of them once won the junior draws at Roland Garros.

The Austrian ÖTV Bundesliga 2017 starts this weekend!

20th of May to 10th of September

On this Saturday, May 20, men’s and women’s ÖTV Bundesliga will start its 2017 outdoor tennis season, hosted by the Austrian Tennis Federation! At the top of Austrias tennis league system, two groups of six teams will play in a round robin format – each team plays every other team of the same group once. Only four teams, the best two of each group, will advance to the Final Four Play-Offs to compete for the national title in early September. The remaining teams from rank 3 to 5 of each group will have to play in a merged round-robin relegation tournament in June to save their spot in the 1. Bundesliga.

With this tight schedule of only four matches per team in the next five weeks, a good start is key for all teams to avoid the relegation tournament and ultimately to get a shot for the title! Therefore, tension will be high this Saturday, May 20, when play starts at 11 AM CET. Atlantic 10 (A-10) Conference Tennis Championships 2017

26th to 30th of April

Tomorrow, the Atlantic 10 Conference Tennis Championships 2017 will begin at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida! Even though called A-10, the conference has 14 member universities, which compete in the NCAA Division I and are mostly based in the Midwestern and Eastern United States.

In the women’s tournament, all 14 member schools will be featured: Davidson College, University of Dayton, Duquesne University, Fordham University, George Mason University, George Washington University, La Salle University, University of Massachusetts, University of Rhode Island, University of Richmond, St. Bonaventure University, Saint Joseph’s University, Saint Louis University and Virginia Commonwealth University. For the fifth year in a row, the VCU Rams have been chosen as the top seed and have also won the last four championships. Fist-round play begins on Wednesday, April 26th at 9:00 am EDT.

In the men’s tournament, only 12 teams will compete for the conference title, since the University of Rhode Island and the University of Massachusetts have no men’s tennis program. The defending champion, George Washington University, wants to claim its sixth championship in seven years. The Colonials have won the last three conference tournament titles. Men’s first round will start on Thursday, April 27th at 9:00 am EDT.

Winning the title in one of the best conferences in the country is not only a matter of prestige but the winning men’s and women’s teams also receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships in March! American Athletic Conference Tennis Championships 2017 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, FL!

Today the American Athletic Conference Tennis Championships 2017 will begin at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida! The AAC is an collegiate atheltic conference, which consist of colleges that are mostly located in urban metropolitan areas in the Northeastern, Midwestern, Western, and Southern regions of the USA.

In this year’s tennis championships, these eleven prestigious institutions will compete for the title: University of Central Florida, University of Cincinnati, University of Connecticut, East Carolina University, University of Houston, University of Memphis, University of South Florida, Southern Methodist University, Temple University, Tulane University and the University of Tulsa.
The teams already have played for the top seed positions during the season and now have to play in the final tournament to become the conference champion. However, the college squads won’t only fight for the well-respected conference title, but the winners will also get a ticket to the NCAA championships! So, a lot is on the line for all competitors!

Play starts today at 9 AM local time with the women’s tournament, as the University of South Florida will face Temple University. A few hours later, East Carolina University will play against the University of Conneticut, and the University of Central Florida and the University of Houston will battle each other; both matches will start at 12 PM local time. The men’s tournament will start tomorrow at 9 AM local time, when East Carolina University will face the University of Conneticut.

Follow the Mountain West Conference Tennis Finals 2017 with Tennis-Ticker!

The Mountain West Conference is a collegiate athletic conference in the United States, which covers the western area of the country. Its member colleges are located in California (California State University, San Jose State University & San Diego State University), Colorado (Colorado State University & United States Air Force Academy), Idaho (Boise State University), Nevada (University of Nevada, Las Vegas & University of Nevada, Reno), New Mexico (University of New Mexico), Utah (Utah State University) and Wyoming (University of Wyoming).

Up to eleven tennis teams of the most prestigious colleges in the United States fight for the top seed positions during the season and compete in a final tournament for the conference title!

This year, men’s Mountain West Conference Tennis Finals will be played in Boise, Idaho from April 28-30. The women’s finals will be played in Las Vegas, Nevada and will already start on April 27.
